AOD

Goals
  • Increase support for law enforcement efforts,
  • Increase the perceived likelihood that an alcohol and other drug (AOD) impaired driver will be stopped by the local police,
  • Increase support for evidence-based practices to reduce AOD impaired driving, and
  • Provide responsible beverage service (RBS) trainings to on- and off-sale alcohol establishments, managers/owners, bartenders, servers, sellers, and hosts.
Objectives
  • Increasing support for law enforcement efforts,
  • Supporting local law enforcement agencies in their DUI enforcement operations,
  • Increasing the public visibility of law enforcement efforts to prevent AOD impaired driving,
  • Educating community members and key stakeholders with the intent to increase support for evidence-based practices to reduce AOD impaired driving, and
  • Providing responsible beverage service (RBS) trainings to alcohol establishments
  • Trainings will be offered to managers, bartenders, servers, and hosts,
  • Trainings will reduce establishment liability and promote responsible alcohol consumption, and
  • Trained establishments will be provided with ongoing support
Target Population
The project targets licensed drivers, community members/residents, key stakeholders and on-and off-sale alcohol establishments in the cities of Anaheim, Huntington Beach, Orange and Santa Ana.

Services
We currently provide educational workshops on “Alcohol and Other Drug Impaired Driving Prevention” to community members/residents, key stakeholders, and community-based organizations and/or groups. We also provide TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures), a Responsible Beverage Service training to bartenders, servers, sellers, and hosts. Lastly, we are available to provide technical assistance to owners/operators of on-sale alcohol outlets.

Cities
The AOD Impaired Driving Prevention Project focuses on the cities of Anaheim, Huntington Beach, Orange and Santa Ana.
