SAVS Client Services

SAVS Client Services is committed to providing high quality and comprehensive services to rape victims, sexually abused children, and their family members.

 

Services:

  • 24-HOUR Hotline Crisis Counseling - On call counselors provide telephone response to clients.
  • Crisis Intervention Counseling - Services to clients and their families to cope with the trauma of victimization and assist in the recovery process.
  • Support Groups - Adult and teen groups which provide an atmosphere for mutual sharing and support.
  • Emergency Assistance - Meets the immediate need for medical care, shelter, food, and clothing for clients.
  • Accompaniment – Provides an advocate at hospitals, law enforcement agencies, District Attorney’s Office, court proceedings, and other agencies.
  • Advocacy - Intervention on behalf of clients.
  • Orientation to the Criminal Justice System - Familiarize clients with the criminal justice system including court tours and individual case status and disposition information.
  • Information and referral – linking clients with community resources.

 

SAVS PREVENTION/EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH works in conjunction with local schools, colleges, and community groups to provide programs that educate, empower and leads to reduction in the incidence of sexual assault.

Programs:

  • Sexual Assault Counselor Certification Training – A 48-hour state certified training which provides individuals with the opportunity to receive the education and learn skills required to act as a sexual assault counselor.  All Sexual Assault Volunteers and Interns must successfully complete this training.
  • Volunteer Counselors - Certified sexual assault counselors respond to 24-hour hotlines, respond to law enforcement calls at the hospital and participate in Prevention Education events throughout the community.
  • Community Education – Specialists provide prevention information on sexual assault, acquaintance rape, sexual harassment, Internet safety, “date rape drugs”, and related topics for schools, colleges, civic groups, law enforcement and other community agencies.
  • Self-defense Classes – Scheduled on a regular basis, these classes provide empowerment for individuals as they learn ways to keep themselves safer.
