Witness Services

Being a Witness in court is often an additional component to being a crime victim.  Many times victims are needed to come into to testify against the perpetrator.  On the other hand, many innocent citizens also become witness to crimes and their testimony can be essential in the search for justice.  Every court center has a Witness Coordinator assigned to assist the Deputy District Attorneys place witnesses on call, provide case notification, court orientation, and transportation assistance when needed.  Furthermore, the Victim Advocates working in the court centers and the District Attorneys office help crime victims directly if they are subpoenaed for court.  The Witness Coordinator or Advocate will insure: that you are prepared for court, all your questions are answered, and notify you of the outcome of your case.  If you receive a subpoena call the telephone number listed or the nearest Victim/Witness center.
